Foley Equipment announced its completion of a new rebuild center for heavy Caterpillar construction machines in Kansas City's Northland.
Foley Equipment has completed a new Kansas City facility that will expand its capacity to rebuild heavy construction machinery throughout the metro.
On Thursday, Foley announced its addition of a new rebuild center for the Caterpillar machines it sells and rents through more than a dozen locations in Western Missouri and Kansas. The center was added to a Foley facility at 3651 N. Skiles Ave. in the Northland.
The city's development database shows the center as a 34,000-square-foot building renovation, with 29,900 square feet for a rebuild shop and 3,400 square feet for administrative offices. At least $1.8 million in building permits were sought in connection with the project between October 2023 and May, according to the database.
"One of the many great things about Cat machines is they are built to have multiple lives," Matt McNett, Foley's vice president of service and power solutions said in a release. "The Cat Certified Rebuild Program returns machines to like-new condition with full warranty and other benefits like upgraded electronics and features, allowing customers to maximize the value of their Cat equipment."
In a recent promotional video for the rebuild center, Foley officials said the company had exceeded its ability to meet customer demand for machine rebuilds at its current facilities. Meeting that capacity during the next five to 10 years required reinvestment in the business, the officials said. The new center will help Foley provide a second life cycle for customers' Cat equipment, lowering their costs per hour and decreasing turnaround times for machine rebuilds, according to the video.
"We are fortunate to have customers doing incredibly important work across the region, and this facility gives us additional capacity to serve them," Foley CEO Ann Konecny said in the release.
Foley has operated in the region for more than 80 years and now has more than 1,400 employees, according to its release. The company reported 416 full-time-equivalent employees in Kansas City as of July.
